A Historic Stay at The Eliza Jane

The Eliza Jane

Set in a transformed 19th-century printing house, The Eliza Jane channels industrial romance through exposed beams, vintage details, and courtyard charm. Centrally located just steps from the French Quarter, The Eliza Jane offers travelers a tranquil place to rest their head after an action packed day in New Orleans!

A Storied History

The Eliza Jane weaves history into its design. The hotel was built into a series of historic warehouses, once home to The Daily Picayune newspaper, and is named for Eliza Jane Nicholson, the first female publisher of a major metro newspaper. Ms. Nicholson inherited The Daily Picayune from her late husband at a time when the paper was in serious debt. But she turned it around and tripled its circulation in the very buildings where The Eliza Jane stands today.

Stonehill Taylor, a New York based firm, developed the interior design of The Eliza Jane with the goal of blending old and new. The design and atmosphere of the hotel aim to honor the rich history of the building it occupies, throughout the hotel you will find small touches from vintage type writers in guest rooms, to old newspapers turned wallpaper in the halls.
